Police Identify Sara Freebery, 35, as Victim of Pedestrian Crash on US 202 in Fairfax

Wilmington, Delaware (July 31, 2017) – The Delaware State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit has identified 35-year-old Sara Freebery as the victim who was severely injured Saturday evening after being hit by a vehicle on US 202.

Freebery was struck at 8:36 p.m. Saturday, July 29 while she was crossing Concord Pike in Fairfax Shopping Center.

According to the police, Freebery was hit by a 2009 Cadillac SRX that was traveling southbound in the center lane of Concord Pike, south of Fairfax Boulevard.

The victim had just crossed the northbound lanes of US 202 and then entered the southbound lanes of Concord Pike when the vehicle hit her.

80-year-old Wilmington man driving the car had swerved to avoid the collision but ended up crashing into Freebery. She was thrown into the right lane of southbound US 202.

It was reported that the patient was wearing dark clothes and was not using a marked crosswalk when she was hit.

Freebery was transported to Christiana Hospital where she remains in critical condition. The occupants of the Cadillac were not hurt.
