Claymont Man Struck and Injured in Claymont Pedestrian Crash on Philadelphia Pike
Claymont, Delaware (August 13, 2017) – A pedestrian was critically injured after being hit by a car on Philadelphia Pike Friday evening.
Delaware State Police say that the incident occurred at around 9:50 p.m. August 11, in the left turn lane approaching Harvey Road in Claymont.
A 22-year-old Pennsylvanian woman from Chester area was driving a 2010 Mazda sedan southbound when she struck the pedestrian.
Police reports show that a 48-year-old Claymont man was standing in the middle of the turn lane when he was hit.
He was transported by ambulance to Christiana Hospital, Stanton.
The driver of the Mazda was not injured.
The identity of the man is being withheld pending notification of the family.
Police say the man was at fault for failing to cross at a marked crosswalk and failing to carry a light.
