Pedestrian Hit and Killed by Train at South Chapel Street and Farm Lane

Newark, Delaware (July 26, 2017) – A pedestrian was hit and killed by a train in Newark Wednesday morning, according to officials.
The fatal incident was reported at around 9:35 a.m. in the area of South Chapel Street and Farm Lane.
A body was seen next to the tracks in the area of South Chapel Street and Farm Lane, and it appeared that the deceased had been hit by a train.
Medical crews pronounced the victim dead at the crash site.
The identity of the victim had not yet been released.
All the trains in Amtrak were halted from moving through that area at 10:10 a.m. Trains were running on two tracks at a controlled speed at 10:45 a.m.
An investigation into the accident is underway.
