One Injured in DART Bus Versus Pickup Collision Near Lewes
Lewes, Delaware (July 15, 2017) – One man was injured and hospitalized Friday morning after a DART bus collided with a pickup at an intersection near Lewes, according to Delaware State Police.
The accident took place shortly before 9 a.m. at the intersection of Route 9 and Belltown Road, west of Route 1.
Carlyn McCray-Hudson, 49, of Frankford was driving a 2009 Gillig DART bus northbound on when she made a left turn to Route 9 from Belltown Road. McCray-Hudson failed to yield the right way of a 2009 Dodge Ram pickup, driven by a 46-year-old man.
The pickup truck was southbound was traveling southbound across Route 9 onto Belltown Road from the Ace Hardware access road and the two-vehicles collided.
The driver of the pickup was taken to Beebe Healthcare with minor non-life threatening injuries.
The bus driver was cited for failure to yield right of way on a left turn.
Three passengers in the bus were not harmed in the accident.
