Rider Sustain Serious Injuries in Georgetown Motorcycle-Bus Crash on South Bedford Street
Georgetown, Delaware (August 7, 2017) – A motorcycle rider was seriously injured Friday evening after colliding with a bus in Georgetown, authorities said.
The accident happened at around 7:30 p.m. Friday, August 4 on South Bedford Street.
According to a report released by state police, a DART bus crossed the path of a motorcycle on South Bedford Street causing the front of the bike to strike the front of the bus. The impact ejected the rider causing him to strike the windshield of the bus.
The victim was wearing a DOT approved helmet at the time of the crash. He sustained serious injuries and was transported to Christian Hospital in Newark for treatment.
The driver of the bus, who was the only occupant of the vehicle, was not injured. She was cited for failing to Yield the Right of Way on a Left-Hand-Turn.
Police continue investigating the crash.
