Man in Wheelchair Seriously Injured in Hit-and-Run Crash in Wilmington

Wilmington, Delaware (July 11, 2017) – A man in a wheelchair was seriously in a hit-and-run crash in Wilmington on Friday, to Delaware State Police.

The accident took place at late Friday night at the intersection of East Lea Boulevard and North Market Street when an SUV struck a motorized Market Street.

The impact caused the motorized wheelchair to spin out and flipped over, trapping its occupant under it.

Medics responded to the scene and transported the Injured man to a hospital for serious but non-life threatening injuries.

According to Delaware State Police, the driver of the SUV pulled into a parking lot and stopped briefly before fleeing.

The incident remains under investigation and the police are looking for the hit-and-run suspect.
