Kenneth W. Jensen and Marlene C. Carpenter Identified as Victims of New Castle Motorcycle Crash at Hamburg Road and River Road

New Castle, Delaware (July 17, 2017) – Two people were injured in a motorcycle collision that occurred Sunday afternoon in New Castle,  as per a local news source article.

The crash took place at 4:37 p.m. Sunday, July 16 at the intersection of Hamburg Road and River Road.

Wei Ming He, 54, of Brooklyn, NY was driving a 2005 Toyota minivan and had stopped on Hamburg Road. The vehicle then entered the intersection to make a left turn onto River Road. A 2007 Honda VC8 motorcycle operated by Kenneth W. Jensen, 56, of New Castle was heading southbound on River Road approaching Hamburg Road. The minivan entered into the motorcycle’s lane causing it to hit the left side of the vehicle on River Road.

Jensen and his passenger Marlene C. Carpenter, 57, of Lewes were ejected off their motorcycle. They were both wearing a DOT-compliant motorcycle helmet. They sustained injuries and were transported by EMS to the Christiana Hospital Trauma Center. Their injuries were termed as non-life-threatening.

Ming He was not injured in the crash. He was cited for Vehicle Turning Left Must Yield Right of Way to Oncoming Traffic.

As a result of the crash, traffic on Hamburg Road in the area of River Road was affected for about an hour.
