Driver Hospitalized in C & D Canal Crash on Summit Bridge Road in Bear

Bear, Delaware (July 14, 2017) – One driver was hospitalized in a car accident in Bear on Friday morning, partially closing the roadway, according to authorities.

The accident was reported at 8:00 a.m. July 14, across the C & D Canal on northbound Summit Bridge Road.

Delaware State Police, New Castle County Paramedics along with Middletown fire crews arrived at the crash site and found one of the drivers in need of medical attention. The victim was taken to Christiana Hospital.

The crash site was moved to the side of the road, but it still led to slowing down of traffic with back up to Chesapeake City Road.

Limited information regarding the crash was available at this time.

Officials are still investigating the crash.
