Delaware State Police Identify Kenneth Seltzer, 27, as the Scooter Operator Seriously Injured at Coastal Highway and Robinson Drive

Rehoboth Beach, Delaware (July 30, 2017) – The Delaware State Police have identified 27-year-old Kenneth Seltzer, a Rehoboth resident, as the victim who sustained severe injuries when a scooter collided with a vehicle Saturday morning in Rehoboth Beach.

The major injury crash occurred at approximately 10:56 a.m. Saturday, July 29 on Coastal Highway northbound at Robinson Drive.

As per the report, Laura L. Mason, 45, driving a 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee stopped in the left turn lane of southbound Coastal Highway at the intersection of Robinson Drive. Meanwhile, Seltzer was riding a 2012 Honda Ruckus Moped northbound on Coastal Highway on the shoulder approaching the same intersection. As the Cherokee driver started to cross the intersection, he failed to see the Moped traveling northbound on the same shoulder and crossed directly in front of him. The Moped struck the Passenger side of the Jeep and Seltzer was ejected. Mason was not injured in the crash.

Seltzer was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, and he sustained serious injuries. He was transported to Beebe Healthcare in Lewes before being airlifted to Christiana Medical Center in Stanton where he was listed to in critical condition.

SR1 northbound at Robinson Drive was restricted to one lane for about three hours.

The authorities were still investigating the crash at the time of the report.
