Carlell Smith and Michael J. Flood Killed in Milford DUI Crash
Milford, Delaware (August 4, 2017) – Two men were charged with their third DUI offense after they both crashed on early Sunday night, according to Public Information officer.
The accident occurred at about 9:08 p.m. July 30, on Benson Road near Cedar Creek Road also known as SR30.
Carrel Smith, 34, of Lincoln, was driving a 2009 Chrysler Town and Country minivan westbound on Benson Road when he failed to stay at the stop sign and pulled into the intersection hitting a 1994 Chevrolet Astro Van driven by Michael J. Flood, 52, of Ocean View, as per Fournier.
The two drivers were removed from the crash site and taken to Bayhealth Milford Memorial Hospital to be treated for non-life threatening injuries.
Smith was charged with Third Offense Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol. He was arraigned at JP2 and committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on $ 6, 502.00 secured bond.
Flood was also charged with Third Offense Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol. He was also arraigned at JP2 and released on an unsecured bond of $ 2,000.
The incident is still under investigation by authorities.
