Car Strikes Pedestrians on Seventh Avenue Killing One and Injuring Another

Longview, Delaware (August 19, 2017) – A man was killed and a woman seriously injured after they were struck by a car on Seventh Avenue on Monday afternoon.

The incident occurred at about 3:37 p.m. August 18, at the intersection of Delaware Street and Seventh Avenue in Longview.

Police reports indicate that the two victims, both in their 30s, were struck by a white Kia Optima being driven by Natalie Myers, 21, of Longview.

Natalie told the police that she was grooming and did not notice the pedestrians walking in the crosswalk ahead of her. Witnesses at the scene say that the car was speeding when the deadly incident happened.

The man died at the scene while the woman was transported to St. John Hospital in critical condition.

The identity of the victim is being withheld pending notification of their families.

Myers has since been arrested, and she will be charged with vehicular homicide, vehicular assault, and possession of heroin.
