3 Hospitalized Route 1 Multi-Vehicle Collision in Middletown
Middletown, Delaware (August 17, 2017) – Three people were taken to trauma centers, two via air and one via ground ambulance after they were involved in a multi-vehicle crash in Middletown, a local news source reported.
The crash occurred today, Thursday, August 17 at around 1:33 p.m., on southbound DE Route 1 in the area of Biddles Toll Plaza.
The manner of the crash was not known, but several vehicles were involved including an overturned tractor.
New Castle County fire crews responded to the multi-vehicle crash to find at least two vehicles that rolled over, including a tractor. A possible ejection was also reported in the accident.
As a result of the collision, injuries were sustained, but there was no report indicating the exact number of patients and extent of injuries. Three people among the injured were taken to trauma centers, one via Trooper 4, another via Christiana Hospital Aviation and a third via ground ambulance.
The northbound and southbound EZ pass lanes at the toll plaza were closed down as a result of the accident.
