2 Women and Child Hospitalized in Bear 2-Truck Crash
Bear, Delaware (August 10, 2017) – Two trucks collided in New Castle County Thursday afternoon sending three people to a hospital, according to New Castle County Police.
The fiery crash took place Thursday afternoon, August 10 at the intersection of Porter Road and Joan Drive in Bear.
According to reports, a red Ford pickup truck slammed into the back of a dump truck for unknown reasons.
The impact caused injury to the pickup truck’s three occupants.
According to witnesses, the pickup slammed into the back of a dump truck that was stopping at a red light, forcing it to get into a culvert nearby.
A New Castle County police officer in a patrol car who noticed the crash and the truck catching fire jumped out of his vehicle to save the occupants while calling fire crews.
The officer and area business employees helped the three victims to the side of the road as they waited for rescue crews to arrive. Witnesses at the crash site mentioned that two women and a child were taken to local hospitals by ambulance.
Other reports indicated that one of the victims with a head injury was taken to a trauma center.
The crash remained under an investigation by authorities.
