Route 1 Multi-Car Crash Leaves 11 People Injured
Rehoboth Beach, Delaware (August 17, 2017) – Several people were injured in a multi-vehicle crash on Route 1 near Pelican Shopping Center on Wednesday morning.
According to Delaware State Police, the crash occurred at about 10:30 a.m. August 16, on the southbound lanes of the highway, just south of Postal Lane.
It is reported that the crash occurred when a street sweeper belonging to Delaware Department of Transportation, being driven by 46-year-old William A. Musgrove of Lewes, had just pulled into the Southbound lanes of Route 1 when the driver failed to see traffic stopped ahead of him.
The street sweeper rear-ended a 2015 Chrysler which struck a 2016 GMC Acadia. The impact caused the Chrysler to veer off and hit a 2007 Chevrolet Impala. Subsequently, the Acadia struck a 2006 Ford F150 pick-up truck.
Musgrove sustained minor injuries and was transported to Beebe Healthcare where he was treated and released.
Ten other people who were occupants of the Chrysler, Impala, Acadia and the Ford were also taken to Beebe Healthcare where they were treated and released.
Musgrove was cited for inattentive driving.
